The Clan MacArthur, which gives its name to the presented whisky, is one of the Scotland’s oldest and most respected.

The MacArthur’s stood alongside Robert the Bruce at Bannockburn and Bonnie Prince Charlie at Culloden and have their mark on the history of their land. MacArthur’s Select is a standard blended whisky from Inver House Distillers portfolio. The company was established in 1964 as a subsidiary of Philadelphia-based Publicker Industries and has been owned by Pacific Spirits since 2001. Inver House owes five malt distilleries – Balmenach, Speyburn, Pulteney, Balblair and Knockdhu – and certainly MacArthur’s formula features whisky from at least the first two of them.

Nose: grainy, porridge, vanilla, simple syrup, pears, apples, walnut shells, white pepper and hints of moist straw.

Palate: slightly spirity, breakfast cereals, vanilla, honey, sugared nuts, lemon peel, green apples, and a dash of pepper.

Finish: pretty short and sugary sweet, some vanilla, caramel, toffee, pepper and toasted oak.
