Description

Glen Grant 12 Year Old was added to the core range in 2016. The only release regularly seen in the UK was previously the 10 Year Old, so this is a welcome addition to the distillery's range. This is the travel-retail non-chill-filtered version – light and fruity with notes of apple pie, caramel, vanilla and subtle spice, 48% ABV.

 

Tasting Note
 
Nose: Orchard fruits open it up, with orange and apple. A touch of pastry and a dusting of icing sugar.
 
Palate: More rich, sweet red apple notes. Golden barley in the background.
 
Finish: Touches of almonds last on the finish.

    I have experienced the Glen Grant 10YO, the 12YO is slightly spicy, perhaps due to the 2 extra years spent in the barrel. No complaints, just love it. Good mouth feel, smells and taste like honey, sweet. Truly an excellent whisky.
