In 1883, Sir Walter Millard travelled to Scotland in search of an impeccable Scotch whisky. His search ended in a blend created by James Mackinlay, of the second generation of the Leith Scotch Whisky blending family.
Being a keen angler himself, Millard named the whisky Black Dog in honour of his favourite salmon fishing fly, used in the Spey and Tay rivers of Scotland since the early 19th century. Thus was born Black Dog Scotch Whisky.
Presenting the Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve, a blend of the finest aged malts and grain whiskies which are finally matured and married in Oloroso Sherry Butts that gives the complexity and depth of character.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Lovely balance of matured and rich malt touches the senses, smoothness of vanilla and butterscotch are skilfully embedded on layers of honey, cream caramel, cinnamon and marzipan with subtle hints of citrus fruits. Delicate aromas of cracked spiced peppers are perceived in the rich complexity blend.
Taste: Elegant wood flavours caress the palate as they slowly unfold. Sweet whispers of caramelised peaches and vanilla add to the complexity of wood elements. With an intriguing complexity, all favours are wonderfully balanced with a delicate spread of medium sweetness at the end.
Finish: Complex and long , great warmth with silky smoothness.
